Key Responsibilities
1. Testing and Analysis
- Conduct metallurgical investigations and analyse the physical and chemical properties of metals and raw materials.
- Perform testing to ensure products meet required standards and specifications.
2. Failure Investigation
- Identify the root causes of metal failures or defects.
- Recommend practical solutions to prevent recurrence.
3. Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance metallurgical processes.
- Apply best practices and innovative techniques to improve product performance and quality.
4. Project Management
- Plan and assess new projects, including estimating material requirements, costs, and timelines.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols and support a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
6. Collaboration
- Work closely with engineers, production teams, and other departments to select the best materials for various applications.
7. Documentation and Reporting

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- BEng Degree in Metallurgical Engineering (NQF Level 8/10).
Experience and Technical Skills
- Minimum of five years of relevant industry experience.
- Knowledge of capital project initiation and management processes.
- Experience with SAP PS and PM modules.
- Strong project management capability.
- Proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Computer literacy, including MS Office and modern analytical, design, engineering, and production tools.
