About the Valterra Platinum Learnership Programme 2026

Valterra Platinum Mine is inviting applications for its Engineering Learnership Programme (18.2 – Unemployed) for 2026. This learnership provides unemployed South African youth with practical workplace experience, technical training, and exposure to the mining and engineering industry.

  • Boilermaker Learnership

  • Millwright Learnership

Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Matric / Grade 12

  • Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) – minimum 40%
  • Physical Science – minimum 40%
  • English – minimum 40%

N3 or Higher (Relevant Trade Subjects)

  • Boilermaker: Plating/Welders Theory, Plating Structural & Steelwork Drawings
  • Electrician: Electrical Trade Theory, Industrial Electronics, or Engineering Drawings
  • Diesel Mechanic: Diesel or Motor Trade Theory, Engineering Drawings
  • Mechanical Fitter: Fitting Trade Theory and Engineering Drawings
  • Instrument Mechanician: Instrument Trade Theory and Industrial Electronics
  • Auto Electrician: Motor Electrical Trade Theory and Industrial Electronics
  • Millwright: Electrical and Fitting Trade Theories, Engineering Drawings, or Industrial Electronics

NCV Level 4

  • NCV Level 4 qualification in the relevant trade with a minimum of 40% pass in all subjects

  • Proof of residence (mandatory for applicants from host communities, stamped by the relevant tribal office or municipality)
