Sasol is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Millwright Artisan Learnership Programme 2026. This learnership offers aspiring artisans an opportunity to receive structured technical training, workplace exposure, and trade preparation in line with QCTO, SETA, and National Artisan Moderation Board (NAMB) requirements.
This programme is ideal for candidates seeking to build a long-term career in engineering, maintenance, and industrial operations within the mining, petrochemical, or manufacturing sectors.
Purpose of the Learnership
As a Millwright Apprentice at Sasol, you will undergo comprehensive training and development to qualify as a certified Millwright Artisan. The programme equips learners with practical and theoretical skills required to maintain, install, and repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Successful candidates will be trained to perform the following duties during the learnership:
- Demonstrate competence in assigned plant, mine, equipment, and system disciplines
- Understand and use plant maintenance and work management documentation systems
- Apply basic plant or mine process knowledge relevant to the discipline
- Comply with Safety Management Systems such as IMS, MBO, and statutory regulations
- Apply emergency procedures and safety protocols
- Conduct hazard identification and task risk assessments
- Read, interpret, and implement task-based risk assessments
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and morning safety meetings
- Meet work deadlines and support business operational goals
- Provide accurate feedback to supervisors and planning officers on work progress
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and safety reviews
- Maintain good housekeeping and follow waste management procedures
- Participate in quarterly performance reviews and personal development planning
- Identify training and development needs and contribute to a Personal Development Plan (PDP)
- Lead by example and contribute positively to team performance
- Assist with developing work instructions to improve staff competency
- Participate in team tasks and, where appropriate, act as a team or group leader
- Contribute to maintenance strategies and plant sustainability initiatives
- Conduct physical inspections (My IMS) to improve plant reliability and safety
- Ensure accurate job history feedback to support equipment upgrades and critical spares
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Completed Matric, N3, or equivalent qualification
- Must have passed Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
Experience
- 0–1 year of relevant technical or engineering experience (advantageous but not mandatory)
