Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) is once again investing in the future of South African youth through its Learnership and Technical Apprenticeship Programmes for 2026/2027. About the Volkswagen Learnership & Apprenticeship Programme

The Volkswagen Group South Africa Learnership Programme offers full-time, trade-related technical training designed to equip learners with practical, hands-on skills and essential industry knowledge. Successful participants gain valuable experience relevant to the automotive and manufacturing industries, preparing them for sustainable employment or career advancement.

Available Learnership & Apprenticeship Fields

Applicants can specialize in one of the following technical disciplines:

Entry Requirements

To qualify for the VWSA Learnerships 2026/2027, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A Matric (Grade 12) certificate with a pass in Core Mathematics and Physical Science
  • OR an N3 Certificate with four relevant subjects, including Core Mathematics and Physical Science, or a higher qualification.

Candidate Expectations

Shortlisted applicants will be expected to:

  • Participate in interviews and assessments conducted by the selection panel.
  • Clearly indicate their first and second choice fields of training.
  • Be willing to complete part-time studies while enrolled in the programme.
  • Work standard hours only (no overtime unless specifically authorized).
  • Internal Volkswagen employees must include their current job title and SAP number in the application.

Note: Employees who have already completed a TLA Apprenticeship or Learnership will not be considered. Successful internal candidates will be placed in a suitable vacant production role upon completion of the programme.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following certified documents (not older than three months):

  • Certified copy of a valid South African ID.
  • Certified copy of the highest school or tertiary qualification.
  • A motivational letter explaining why they want to join the Volkswagen Learnership Programme and indicating their preferred field of study.
  • Updated contact details, including a working cellphone number and an alternative number.
